I really do not have a problem reading while listening to music. Sometimes it actually helps me to focus more on whatever I am doing, and that includes reading.

When I am reading in a public environment where there is more noise, I actually prefer to listen to music while reading because it drowneds out all the other noise.

I really don’t have any preference as to what music is on while I am reading, other than the fact it obviously has to be something I enjoy. I do find, however, that the more familiar the music, the easier it is for me to read while listing to it. If, say, I purchase a new CD and try to read while listening to it, I will easily get destracted from the book while I try to listen to the new music.

I am ALWAYS trending in some way. Most of the time I will start out reading a book in one genre or of one type and then the next few books will be of the same genre/type. After a few books I will start to get burned out and want to read a different type of book, so I will pick a different genre/type and read a few books of that type. One big trending circle.

I would have to say that my preferred method of listening to audio books would be while I am in the car. My boyfriend and I usually find a book that we both want to read, and then see if we can find it on audio book. He and I go pretty much everywhere together, and most everywhere we would need to get to is at least 20 minutes away. 20 minutes is a nice amount of time to get through a bit of an audio book.

Whether or not I give books as gifts to children depends on how old the child is, and whether or not I know they like books enough to get them as gifts.

When a child is between newborn and 5, I think giving books as gifts is not a bad idea. Once they are older than 5, or unless they have already developed a deep love for books, I think that most of the time children are more happy with something else, unless said book specifically relates to something they are currently very interested in.

I would have to say that I do prefer to read books in a series. I like being able to continue following characters from one good story to the next. If I like the first book in a series then I will always continue with the series.

At the moment my favorite series is Victoria Thompson’s Gaslight Mysteries series.

It all really depends on the book and movie. If I haven’t read the book but the movie looks good I will see the movie, and then nine times out of ten will read the book after. If I have read the book first and really liked the book, I am usually very hesitant to see a movie “based” on said book. A lot of the time I am dissappointed with the movie (even if it is a fantastic movie) simply because it does not depict things the way that I saw them in my head.
